How can I volunteer for AFIS?

Can local students apply or is it just for international students?

vAlthough our name suggests Australia Federation of International Students, it is not just limited to international students. We are always keen to have people who are passionate and driven join our family. If you’re sociable, eager to help and have valuable skills to contribute, you’d love for you to sign up as a volunteer or ambassador and experience AFIS for yourself.

I have issues in Australia and I don’t know what to do, can you guys help me with problems?


AFIS has a vast network with industries and professional bodies all around Australia. We can help by referring you to the appropriate body that may be able to assist you. You can relay your enquiry through our contact form.


I want to be a part of your committee — how do I do so?


Unlike volunteers, applications for the AFIS Committee only open once a year. If you're a student studying in Australia, you are welcome to submit your interest. Committee applications open in the second semester and the best way to stay up to date is by following AFIS on social media or subscribing to our newsletter.

Are the students in your committee paid?

No, AFIS is a non-profit and all AFIS committee members are volunteers.

Where are you guys based?

For now, we are purely based in Victoria.

Do you guys have membership cards available?

No, we don’t have membership cards. If you’d like to attend an event held by AFIS, simply RSVP to the event on its page.
