End of year student barbeque
Forty-five international students gathered in Melbourne’s Yarra Banks after examinations for an end of year barbeque.
‘Fight like a girl’ (Self defence for women)
Fight like a girl self defence workshop was organised for female international students to provide them with self defence skill in case of emergency. The workshop was well received by girls.
AFIS international student celebration
AFIS and the international student community’s contribution to the local community was celebrated at a cocktail hour function at the City Library function room in Central Melbourne.
Turkish Tulip Festival
Fifteen students were transported to the Turkish Tulip Festival, where they experienced a variety of culturally significant Turkish activities including food and dance
Chinese Moon Festival
International students were invited to a community event organised by the North East Melbourne Chinese Association to celebrate Chinese Moon Festival. Students were able to understand chinese culture, while enjoying Chinese performances.
Seminars and tours
A series of informative seminars were organised for international students around job interview, and consumer rights, aiming to improve international student skills around job seeking and increase awareness of rights of international students.
Tours to Victoria Police was also organised to inform international students of where the police station is, and increase their awareness of the what happens in a police station.
